‘J’ is for JOY!
Joy is much more than happiness, which is often fleeting. Joy is being happy in the ups and downs of life. How can this be? When you know the Joy Giver, then you will know the experience of being joyful on the hilltop and in the valley.
Here is the recipe:
J – Jesus first
O – others next
Y – yourself last
When you try to think this recipe through, it may seem to make no sense. But the key is not in the thinking but rather in the doing. This kind of logic is paradoxical. Here are some things to digest:
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In all your ways acknowledge God and He will direct your paths.
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things shall be added unto you.
Here are some scripture references:
Look to the good of your neighbour – 1 Corinthians 10:24
Being a servant – Matthew 23:11-12
Worldly good – 1 John 3:17-18
Ransom – Mark 10:45
Real love and true joy has its origins in heaven, not on earth.◊
