You Don’t Have To Settle For Second Best!

Who you are determines how you live and what you do.

1 John 3:9 says, “Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”

What does this mean?

•   You are a child of God and you have the seed of God planted in you.
•   This is the remarkable characteristic of being a child of God.
•   You are changing to be like Him all the time.
•   We have that great hope that we will be like our LORD one day.

We have an obligation:

•   You need to display the characteristics of God in your behaviour.
•   You need to look at fellow men the way God would look at them.
•   You need to show compassion towards one another, like God shows compassion on you.
•   You need to act in a way that God would act towards mankind.

What is in the seed?

1.   The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. (Psalm 145:8 – KJB)
2.   Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate. (Psalm 116:5 – NASB)
3.   LORD, who may stay in your tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one who walks with integrity, does what is righteous, and speaks the truth within his heart. (Psalm 15:1-2 – GWT)
4.   Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the LORD, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7- NASB)

Being born of God implies:

•   A change of heart
•   A heart surrendered to God
•   A heart that keeps God’s statutes
•   A heart that walks in God’s love

Irrespective of where you live, when you are born of God, you will live a life that is transformational and what you do will positively impact those around you. You cannot do otherwise because you have the seed of God germinating fruit within you.◊
