The other day I received a phone call from a very shocked and distressed person. He had just been car-jacked. It happened in broad daylight in a busy street. He said it happened so fast that people around did not realize what was taking place until he was left stranded on the street.
I cannot explain the emotions that must have overtaken him because I was not in his situation. But I do know someone very close to me who had a similar experience 14 years ago. He says that unless you have experienced it for yourself, you will never completely understand the extent of the trauma such a misfortune brings.
Isaiah 12:2 (ERV) says, “God is the one who saves me. I trust him, and I am not afraid. The LORD YAH is my strength. He saves me, and I sing songs of praise about him.”
God is indeed our strength and we need to call on Him when we need that strength in an even greater measure. So, why not call on Him?
I am reminded of the lyrics of this song: ‘Call on the Lord when you have no words to say, Call on the Lord when the hurt won’t go away…’ Click here: Call on the Name of the Lord.
Although misfortune involves trauma, we can get strength and hope knowing that there is a source of help that is available to calm our troubled soul. John 10:9-11(NKJV) says, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”
I pray for that supernatural strength for you during times of misfortune. Just remember that God is for us and not against us, as found in Romans 8:31. He works in miraculous ways and YOU will experience it as you trust Him whole-heartedly. ◊
