‘A’ for Ascension
A –> Anointed One
S –> Son of Man, Son of God, a Self-Sacrificing life
C –> Christ came down to Earth
E –> Everlasting Prince of Peace
N –> Name above all names
S –> Saviour in human flesh
I –> In unison with the Father above, ineradicably intertwined
O –> One and Only Begotten Son
N –> Nearer to God we come through Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ was sent as God’s gift to man. How can we reject such a rich and rewarding gift? Read: Isaiah 29:16; Isaiah 45:9 and Romans 9:20
Ponder on these things:
A –> The Anointed One came to earth to ransom fallen mankind and redeem us to Father God.
S –> This redemption could only be done by a Sinless Sacrifice. So, God sent His One and Only Son to take up human state and be born as a Baby through Holy Conception through the Virgin Mary.
C –> The Anointed One was much awaited through the Ages, as prophesied in the Old Testament. The Messiah would come and save His people from the yoke of bondage. Jesus came down to earth – it is an undisputed historical fact.
E –> As we commemorate Good Friday and Easter, we applaud the finished work of Redemption on the Cross. It was on the cross that our Lord Jesus Christ shed every drop of His Blood as a blood offering for the cleansing and atonement of the sins of mankind.
N –> On the third day, Jesus Christ conquered death and paid the price for our salvation. Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, offers the gift of eternal life to any man who believes in Him.
S –> The Lord Jesus Christ arose triumphant from the grave, completing and confirming all that Scripture said He would do.
I –> The ascension of Jesus Christ, witnessed by so many people, goes down in the annuls of history as an indisputable fact. No man has any excuse to claim otherwise; this is not a fairytale.
O –> He came, He conquered, He arose and He ascended! The One and Only Son of God took on human flesh to redeem that relationship between God and man, which was broken in the Garden of Eden.
N –> He came to save us! He came to conquer Satan and remove the wages of sin, which is death. He arose triumphantly from the grave. Jesus accomplished the work of unification so man will never be estranged from God. He ascended to Heaven in the midst of a multitude of witnesses. He is now seated in Heaven, on the right-hand side of the Throne of God.
Have you accepted God’s offer for the redemption of sin and the gift of eternal life? Don’t rely on tomorrow because it is not guaranteed to anyone, irrespective of age. Act today – in the present and that is why it is called the ‘present’ – God’s gift to you. ◊
