Grace – what does it mean?
Within the spiritual context, it is understood as ‘unmerited favour’.
G – God’s
R – Riches
A – At
C – Christ’s
E – Expense
Grace is the overflowing favour of God. Imagine pouring yourself a nice cold drink from a can into your glass… it fills up so quickly till it overflows. Similarly, we need God’s grace afresh each day to start our lives on the right footing. In that way we live a supernatural life. Read 2 Corinthians 6:1 – We need God’s grace but we cannot take that grace in vain.
We simply cannot live without God’s grace each day. Why? Grace is the gift of God manifested by the Holy Spirit, enlightening our minds and thoughts so we tune out of the negative situations that bombard us daily, and tune into that liberating power-source that makes us victorious rather than victims.
So, what’s next?
My father said back in those day: “If you need to buy milk, you need to show the shop keeper your empty bottle, then he will exchange it for a full one.” Many younger generation folk will not understand this, which was how transactions were done just fifty years ago. The principle remains the same: if you need something, you need to go to the source who can provide it. So often we go to all the wrong places, expecting to get what we so desperately need.
Read Psalm 139:1-6 NIV
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”
Grace – can you afford to live without it? ◊
