Change!!! Some dread it! Some love it! Either way, change happens. We embrace change or we shy away from it. The clock keeps ticking and nobody can stop those invisible hands from moving.
It’s the angle we view change from which makes all the difference. A foetus has to reach developmental milestones until it is ready to present itself to the world. Babies have to do whatever babies do in their blissful world. Even before they can say how they feel, babies have to fall, bruise their knees and get up again. Pain is part of the process of maturation.
Adults learn their best lessons through the hard way. (Ask a person who has received a speeding ticket.) We purpose to change our ways most times when we have been dealt a sobering blow.
Remember how hard it was to fail your exam. – Shock, disbelief, sadness, despair, tears and more painful experiences complete the equation. However, we don’t stay the same – we propel towards the hope of better days ahead. As long as we have breath, we have hope. We muster all the courage within us, put on our ‘armour of steel’ and move forward, like a gladiator. With the dexterity of an ox, the vision of an eagle, the precision of a panther, we take our best shot of life.
Sadly, not all people have that drive to look at obstacles and forge ahead with courage and determination. But there is hope for even the frailest, most timid person. We have help!!! In the midst of his turbulence, King David asked, “Where does my help come from? Psalm 121:1-2 NIV says, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
Sometimes you may feel like your whole world has come crashing down and you just want to curl up and die. But remember, as long as you have breath, you have hope. That’s the long and short of it. You may feel alone and abandoned but you are never alone. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Just having a simple, childlike faith will make all the difference in your walk in life, no matter the times or seasons you face. Chin up! Keep moving, the clock is still ticking. ◊
