When you look around you, all you see is doom and gloom. Yet, paradoxically, people are living like there is no tomorrow. They eat, drink and are living merry lives, notwithstanding the consequences of it.
Recent events brought my attention to the controversy of the so-called men of God who are working miracles amongst the throngs of people. They are posing as demi gods and have men waiting at their every beck and call. These people prey on their followers like bloodthirsty vipers, extracting money from the poorest so that they can fuel their own lust for material things. One glimpse of the list of the top 10 richest men of the cloth shows the double standards. It is outright deplorable! Men and women are being sucked up into this vortex of control.
The Bible tells us not to lose heart because in the last days evil will prevail at its upmost. This is a sign that Satan, the enemy of our soul is having his last swing at God’s choice creation. Sadly, many have fallen for his bait. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV) says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Do not lose heart, verse 5 says ‘from such (people) turn away’.
We need not be discouraged because we know the outcome as revealed in scripture. Revelation 20:7-10 clearly shows us that that age-old liar is going to be put in his place. His trickery will be stamped out. He will be dealt the ultimate blow. Revelation 20:9-10 (KJV) says, “and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
We who are faithful to the end will be recompensed. We will receive our reward and all sorrow and pain will be wiped away (Revelation 21:4). Our souls will be at peace with our Maker and the Rewarder of our souls. What a blessed hope we have! So, lift up your head and know that your dedication to walk in the holiness of God is not in vain. Shine your light brightly and illuminate the path for others. We are meant to shine as stars in the night sky. ◊
