G20
We are just days away from G20 and as our city prepares for this great event, safety and security are top issues on the agenda. People are overwhelmed with the threat to global peace. Despite what is going on around us, the Word of God says in John 14:27 (NKJV), “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” How can we do that?
God has given us a bank account for each day – 24 hours is allotted to each person. We need to do all we can in that time because it will never come back. There is no savings account on our daily bank account. When we focus our energy and time on worrying about the future, we are actually robbing ourselves of our present.
Someone said that worry is like taking a piece of paper and ripping it in half. We end up with half of what we are expected to get out of life. Days will come and days will go but what we got out of it is what we will have to show for ourselves.
To live a great life we have to take the risk. We have to confront our fears and move forward. Sitting around and becoming anxious will get us nowhere. Great people take great risks. They go on to do great exploits. We do not need to compare ourselves with others because each person is unique and has his own purpose and destiny.
G20 will come and go and what must be will be. Focus your energy on living your day to the full and doing what you can each day instead of procrastinating and worrying. Plug in to a higher strength than your own and you will find that you too can do great things in your world. When you know that there is someone out there looking after your best interest, you get that added strength to face the world and all the challenges that comes with it. Why try to be a hermit crab when you can have hawk eyes and eagle’s wings?
With the 2014 G20 Summit happening within a few days, we can do something significant by praying for our leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-4(CEB) says: “First of all, then, I ask that requests, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be made for all people. Pray for kings and everyone who is in authority so that we can live a quiet and peaceful life in complete godliness and dignity. This is right and it pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”
If you want to have a greater life than you presently have, you need to have a greater picture of who God is and what He can do in you and through you. Isaiah 40:28-29 (NKJV) says, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.”
Fulfil your destiny and leave a great legacy for your future generations. You can do it! Nothing is impossible to those who dare to look life squarely in the face!
