Givers are receivers. Does that sound like an oxymoron to you? Logic dictates that if you give something away, you no longer have it in your possession. Right? However, when you give, you get something invaluable in return. They say money cannot buy everything. There are some things much more precious than money. Do you get my drift?
Takers are consumers. They eat up, they use up and they deplete resources. People who are takers can drain you. When you are drained, you cannot perform at your best. You feel and look like a deflated balloon. And of what good is that state of being to anyone?
Look at a newborn baby! The sight of such a precious little one fills you with joy. Notice how our vocabulary and facial expressions change when we communicate with a little baby! Is it their innocence, their purity and their vulnerability that turns on a button inside us?
Yes, little babies are helpless and require a lot of care from us. But the love and joy they bring far outweighs the hours of labour. We can call it our labour of love. Just seeing that quick smile while they sleep and dream (do they?) is so rewarding for the doting dad and mum. So, we can conclude that even in their helpless states, little babies give love, smiles, joy and good vibes.
A consumer is one who gets stuff for his or her personal use. Unless that stuff is wisely used for enriching the lives of especially those close to them, that consumption can be viewed as self-directed. While there is nothing wrong in using things for yourself, it is when you are selfish in what you do that makes all the difference. You become a taker and talkers are by nature not very generous people. They are people that other people do not want to be around with. These takers deplete others.
Someone said that to have friends you need to be a friend. A friend is someone who is always there to lend a helping hand. They will go the extra mile to meet your needs. They will be generous with their time and resources. They give in so many ways. You can always rely on a true friend because you value that friendship, which lasts a lifetime. Are you privileged to have found a friend like that?
He gave …
Over 2000 years ago, our world was blessed with a little baby. As prophesied, born in a stable and laid in a manger, the Lord Jesus Christ came to Earth to reconcile man to God. Read Luke 1:26-38. Throughout His short 33 years of life, He gave immeasurably.
When you celebrate Christmas, remember that God the Father gave us the greatest Gift ever. He gave …
Jesus Christ gave up His life as the best gift ever for sinful man as an atoning sacrifice. He offers man eternal life – a gift no one has ever given us. He extends His hand to you and I, offering the reward of eternity with Him in heaven. Read Luke 22:69 and John 14:1-6.
What a Friend we have in Jesus! He is the Lover of our soul. Have you accepted Him and His gift this Christmas? The response is for your lifetime and beyond. ◊
