When we look around us we are constantly accosted with apocalyptic scenes – the new normal looms larger than day itself. Crafty politicians play their blame game with no certainty deep within their hearts. Yet, the invisible enemy feeds on our fears and insecurities and steadily steals momentum, robbing us all of peace and stability. “Is this the end of the world?” people ask as media footage captures scenes that even Hollywood cannot match. The world is in great distress and everyone knows it!
What do you see?
The cycle of life is a circle of Birth, Growth, Productivity, Reproduction, Death … Life. This has been the pattern in nature and this has been the pattern all through the ages. What has changed that causes our hearts to be so heavy-laden?
New life is one of the most precious gifts we receive. Spring is one of the most welcomed seasons and lifts even the dullest spirits; it brings mystical beauty that ignites and energises the human spirit. It is a season of optimism, growth and prospects of a treasure trove for the future.
What about the fabric of the human spirit? What do we learn from the Spring season? The moral fibre of mankind distinguishes and elevates him amongst all creation. Looking back through the ages, are we better or worse human beings? What is your take on that question?
The mandate given to the first man was to take care of creation. Genesis 1:28 says, “God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” We are given authority by God to rule over all created things, not to let them be over us, nor should we rule over each other.
The word ‘mandatory’ is now seen as a prison sentence. The lament of people across the Globe is that Covid 19 has changed their lives irrevocably. Rulers attempt to rule in a hostile, uncertain and unpredictable climate where the only thing predictable is change, leaving us all horrendously stupefied.
Is there Hope? To those who are seeking, there is hope. Revelation 21:5 says, “Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look! I’m making all things new.” Read the context in Revelation 21:1-8.
Restoration is coming… 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” What must we do? Acts 3:19-21 says, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.” As promised, He makes all things new. ◊
