We have room for pleasure, room for eating and drinking, room for reading and watching, room for resting and sleeping etc.
Do you make room for the rich and famous, the young and beautiful celebrities and the media?
Time-travel… Was there room at the Inn?
The tax collector, the rich, young ruler, the Scribe, Sadducee, Pharisee and the High Priest were all welcome. Joseph and pregnant Mary – sorry, no room for you!
Do you have room for food and wine, for fun, sport, the movies and shopping? Yes!
For prayer time? Not yet…
What did they have? Jesus had no house to call His own. Paul mended tents to earn his keep. Peter mended nets. John the Baptist lived in the wilderness. Elijah lived in the house of a poor widow. Lazarus lay outside the gates of the rich man. What do you have?
We have…
So little time – So much stuff,
So few real friends – So much activity,
Such crowded agendas – So little time to lend a helping hand,
We have so little of ourselves to give…
He gave!
Father God gave us His one and only Son.
Lord Jesus Christ gave His life as payment for our sins and He offers us eternal life.
Lord Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to us as Comforter and Guide.
Lord Jesus said there are many mansions in His Father’s house and He has gone before us to prepare a place for us.
Have you made room in the Inn of your heart?
For the Lord Jesus…
For the Holy Spirit to dwell within you…
For Father God to have your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life…
Our Lord Jesus was born in a stable. There was no room at the Inn for Him. Now He reigns as King, seated on the right hand of God the Father. There are mansions prepared for His followers in His Kingdom for all eternity.
Take note of the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:3-12 NIV. Each beatitude shows the heart condition (and reward) of the citizen of God’s kingdom.
- Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
- Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
- Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
