How many of us react when things go wrong with the typical, ‘Why, God?’ A friend sent me a YouTube clip on ‘Never say can’t’ that has inspired countless people. It was about a baby abandoned at the hospital because she was born without legs. The couple that rescued her gave her one instruction: ‘Never say can’t.’ She grew up strong and determined and became a successful acrobat.
Instead of feeling sorry for ourselves and asking God ‘why’, we should…..
It is easy to love someone who is loving but a completely different thing to love someone who is unlovely. It requires a special kind of love that looks beyond the acts of meanness and selfishness. The Bible speaks of different kinds of love; love for fellowman, love for one’s brother, love for your parents, love for your spouse, love for your child and love for God.
Our best example was Jesus Christ in the way He demonstrated love towards…..
But God is faithful and just, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and unfailing love. Check out Psalm 145:8; Psalm 86:5; Psalm 103:8.
When we face opposition and we don’t know who is right and who is wrong, who do we turn to? There is only one source that is just and faithful; it is the Sovereign Lord. We need to turn to Him for the answer and the way forward.

Your birthday is something you tend to always remember because it comes up year after year. Actually, it is the anniversary of your birth that you remember. Some people make a great fuss about birthdays and enjoy birthday presents, party and birthday cake. Other people are very low key about it. Some cultures do not even celebrate birthdays. One of the greatest battles we fight every day is in the area of our mind. For those of us who have suffered setbacks and failures, we know how hard it is to regain confidence. The sad truth is that too many times we allow our failures to define us. Our mind tells us to quit trying; it tells us that we are not good enough. We often buy into that lie and start to doubt ourselves and our abilities.

The hardest thing in life is learning NOT to trust in yourself but learning to trust in God. We are born human and therefore have a human nature that puts our trust and confidence in things, people and ourselves. When I had a burn out and sank into clinical depression, my world crashed. Everything I had worked for was dashed to the ground. I now realize that we cannot trust ourselves to sustain us and we certainly cannot put our…..
The other day I received a phone call from a very shocked and distressed person. He had just been car-jacked. It happened in broad daylight in a busy street. He said it happened so fast that people around did not realize what was taking place until he was left stranded on the street.
I cannot explain the emotions that must have overtaken him because I was not in his situation. But I do know someone very close to me who…..
One of the most challenging things in life is when we face disappointment. Unfortunately life does not always turn out the way we want. When confronted with disappointment, how we face it determines how we will overcome it. Some people become ostriches and just bury their heads in the ground. Some people become martyrs and challenge it full on. Some people bottle it all up, only to find that it becomes like a cancer and eventually erupts in some form,…..
