Get Ready!

Part 1
Get Ready
Are you ready?
Look around you…
What do you see?
Signs, signals, scenarios
Something is imminent.
The whole earth is in anticipation…
The crust of the earth is cracking.
The birds of the air; they know it.
The fish in the depths of the ocean; they sense it.
Something is happening for sure!
People all around our world feel it in their gut.
There is…..
When people you love break your heart, what do you do? The first question in your mind is ‘why?’ and the initial reaction is pain. Very often there is this disbelief as you struggle to accept the fact that someone so close to you, someone you love, could do this to you. Your world comes crashing down right before your eyes and you have to pinch yourself to see that this is not a bad dream.
How do you respond…..
Your birthday is something you tend to always remember because it comes up year after year. Actually, it is the anniversary of your birth that you remember. Some people make a great fuss about birthdays and enjoy birthday presents, party and birthday cake. Other people are very low key about it. Some cultures do not even celebrate birthdays. So why the big deal about birthdays? The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, ‘It is appointed once to a man to die,…..
Abandoned, rejected, looked down upon, labeled and despised. These are strong words describing strong, heartfelt issues. What do you say to someone who finds them self in that situation? HOPE! Is that remotely possible? A three month old baby girl is abandoned by her own mother? Why? Because her biological father is of a lower social status than her family. Is life so cheap? Twenty six years later this girl searches for her parents and flies 1000’s of miles to…..
Exactly! What is in a name? Why is a person’s name so important to them? I have noticed that people get really upset if you don’t spell their name correctly. Yet, if one mispronounces a name, it is not such a big deal. I attended a funeral for a well-known person in our community. The church service was packed to capacity and overflowing. Everybody was dressed in their best outfits, as befitting the occasion. While speechmaker after speechmaker credited the…..
As you listen to the beautiful and inspiring song by Kari Jobe called ‘Everyone needs a little’, may your spirits be lifted up. I also found this lovely quote by Erin Majors: ‘A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle’. It is so true of people and of life. There certainly is hope for the hopeless. Even the smallest candle will radiate its light in the biggest dark room because candles work best in the dark.
We are all meant to be…..
The hardest thing in life is learning NOT to trust in yourself but learning to trust in God. We are born human and therefore have a human nature that puts our trust and confidence in things, people and ourselves. When I had a burn out and sank into clinical depression, my world crashed. Everything I had worked for was dashed to the ground. I now realize that we cannot trust ourselves to sustain us and we certainly cannot put our…..
The other day I received a phone call from a very shocked and distressed person. He had just been car-jacked. It happened in broad daylight in a busy street. He said it happened so fast that people around did not realize what was taking place until he was left stranded on the street.
I cannot explain the emotions that must have overtaken him because I was not in his situation. But I do know someone very close to me who…..
One of the most challenging things in life is when we face disappointment. Unfortunately life does not always turn out the way we want. When confronted with disappointment, how we face it determines how we will overcome it. Some people become ostriches and just bury their heads in the ground. Some people become martyrs and challenge it full on. Some people bottle it all up, only to find that it becomes like a cancer and eventually erupts in some form,…..
People who live with constant criticism develop a feeling of condemnation. This is like a heavy burden upon your shoulder and you go about your day and your life wearing that stamp upon your body. It’s like an ugly tattoo. People see it and go, ‘uh!’ when you grow up being condemned by those who are closest to you, those who are meant to love and support you, it is very hard to shrug it off.
A person who has…..
