When you are waiting for someone and you are not sure exactly when they will come, all your thoughts are focused on it. You go about your day, doing what you have to do but you are always on the lookout for that person”s arrival.
We are always waiting for something in our lives. Some people are waiting for the birth of their baby, some are waiting for results of a blood test or medical diagnosis. Some might be waiting for death to come knocking on their door.
There is someone knocking on our door, waiting for an invitation to come in and have a relationship with you. Listen to this Song ‘Someone’s at the door’
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:7, “Knock and the door will be opened to you.” When you seek earnestly for something, you will find it. In the last book of the Bible, Revelation 3:20 Jesus is knocking on your door – “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” It is an invitation to let Him into your heart and into your life.
Paradoxically, we are not intentionally waiting for the day when we will leave this world. Our dear departed souls didn’t know either, when that precise moment would arrive, until it was right on them.
Are you ready for that moment? Have you thought about it seriously enough to research what the next step would be? We wait for lots of things, but do we wait for when our soul will depart from our body?
In Luke 12:16-21 we read about the parable of the Rich Fool. He was so consumed with storing up wealth for himself but neglected his soul and missed his eternal reward. Verse 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
We take great measures to care and rest our body. What about rest for the soul?Listen to this Song.
This comforting song was written by the blind Fanny Crosby, whose faith, life and dependence on God gave her heroine status. Her small tombstone read – “Aunt Fanny: She hath done what she could; Fanny J. Crosby.” Great will be the reward of such people who wait on the Lord every waking moment and do His bidding. ◊
