Why is it that when the rains pour, it comes down in torrents? They say that when calamity strikes, it never rains but pours. Just when you think the worse is over and things couldn’t get any worse, you are struck down with another major blow. What do you do? Where do you turn?
Sometimes you try to hold onto a thin strand of hope and as you do, to your horror, you watch it wearing out. Then when it seems like all hope is gone, you are swooped up. It is like a big bird with lightning speed has dived down and snatched you as you stood on the precipice of the high rock face.
If you believe there is something bigger than yourself in this wide, expansive universe, the possibilities are endless. Yes, bad things do happen to good people and the innocent do suffer unjustly. Just remember that our view of things as humans is cosmically small.
In our hour of need, we should seek the Lord, not run away from him. If He cares for the sparrow that falls to the ground, how much more does He care for man, His prized creation? Did you know that He even knows how many hairs are on your head? – see Matthew 10:29-31. So, why do we think we can walk alone? Matthew 10:31 (NLT) instructs us thus, “So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
We therefore need to ask ourselves, ‘Is it pride that keeps us from seeking help?’ The foolish man says in his heart, ‘There is no God’ – see Psalm 14:1. His end will certainly be the path of destruction. Those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved – see Romans 10:13. However, there is a condition: the person needs to live by the godly principles set out for him – see Matthew 7:21. So, get the cosmic picture and know that there is a divine plan and purpose for all creation. As we surrender our will to the Almighty, allow Him to lift you out of your bleak situation and carry you under His strong wings onto higher ground.
When the rains come and the storm buffets, rest assured that you have a solid fortress to keep you safe, strengthen you and steer you onto higher ground. God is able to do all that for you! Trust Him! Enjoy the song – Praise You in the Storm – https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MUWbmtbzDno
