Why worry?… Worry uses up a lot of energy – negative energy that could be spent much more profitably. We know that worry is Faith in reverse gear! So why not look at things from the right perspective?
Since we know that 90% of the things we worry about does NOT happen, shouldn’t we be refocusing out thought pattern? You may say, ‘Well, it’s my nature to worry’. Then I say, ‘Put that old nature to death’. It is destructive and does not produce good fruit for you! Get far away from it as possible!
The Bible says in Ephesians 4:21-23 (NLT), 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
I have found that when something is bothering me, it goes around and around my head. I can’t seem to shake it off, no matter how hard I try. But then I use the scripture found in Philippians 4:13 (NKJV), 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This is my ‘offence’ on that old habit of worry. I look straight at it and say, ‘I do not have to put up with this negative energy. I am renewing my mind. I choose to believe in the positive because God has said I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me’.
Turning worry upside down is substituting it with Faith, believing in a positive outcome. We know that faith is defined as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So I then go about my day by substituting that worry or concern I have with something else. Sometimes I put a song in my head to occupy my thoughts in a more creative and positive way. Other times I focus on doing something constructive that requires me to focus my thinking about that task rather than what was worrying me in the first place.
When our actions are aligned to our thought processes, our energies become redirected as well. So, we can choose to live out our day joyfully or fretfully! The choice is yours. Just remember that we have one life to live and a day spent can never ever be regained. Appreciate the moment! ♦
